Justin Monroe

Justin Monroe is an up and coming fashion photographer from the US.

His work can be described as ultra realistic and highly provocative. Working with a group of known stylists and art directors, his images create a sense of heightened reality.

Justin Monroe's editorial work has appeared in Australia's DNA Magazine, the UK's Gay Times and many more. His work is edgy, glamorous and very sexy. There are many more examples of his work on his website.

Star Trek

The new Star Trek film - which will tell the story of the classic Star Trek crew meeting at the Starfleet Academy and embarking on their first mission - is starting to look like a boy bonanza, now the final main cast have been announced.

Chris Pine will play Captain James T Kirk

Heroes' Zachary Quinto will play Mr Spock

British comedy star and Sci-fi buff Simon Pegg will appear as Scotty

Karl Urban will be playing Dr Leonard 'Bones' McCoy

The main cast will be completed by Zoe Saldana as Uhura, Anton Yelchin as Chekov and Mr Sulu will be played by John Cho. Leonard Nimmoy will appear as the older Spock, presumably because Vulcans live longer... Let's just hope it doesn't suck.

Guy Grieve

My favourite bit of posh totty on the TV at the moment is huntin', shootin' and fishin' adventurer Guy Grieve - co-star of Channel 4's oddly fascinating The Wild Gourmets.

Rugby World Cup - France

France haven't resorted to slanging matches as the clock runs down for their semi-final showdown with England.

They've sported their best pouts and stripped down to their bare bones in some cases to let off steam in preparation for the world champions.

This gallery is not the usual 'pretty' calendar shots but if you like internaional rugby as much as international rugby players, then it's worth a look.

Shooting the French

And yes, the second picture is Frederic Michalak, French international, model, and probably the best looking player in the sport - all that and he is a key playmaker for the French.

The Tudors

I have finally watched an episode of BBC/Showtime co-production The Tudors - a supposedly raunchy TV series best described as loosely based on the early years of Henry VIII's reign - which has already secured a second series!

To be honest I had been put off by the imagined familiarity of the story but more by the surly and girly Jonathan Rhys Meyers as Henry VIII. But was delighted to see these two in the cast.

Steven Waddington as Edward Stafford, Duke of Buckingham, has long been a favourite of mine - a proper cub, if he did but know it, and Henry Cavill as Charles Brandon, 1st Duke of Suffolk.

Steven Waddington is best known for his extensive film career, with credits including Edward II, Last of the Mohicans, Carrington, Face, The Hole, Sleepy Hollow, The Parole Officer, and Breakfast on Pluto. His television credits include Ivanhoe, Boudica and The Curse of King Tut's Tomb. He has appeared on stage in Barbarians, Pericles, Coriolanus, All's Well That Ends Well, and 900 Oneonta.

Henry Cavill began his career as an actor in Stowe Boarding School in England where he appeared in many student productions. He has appeared in several films, including The Count of Monte Cristo, I Capture the Castle, Riding Hood, Hellraiser: Hellworld, and the film adaptation of the myth of Tristan & Isolde. He will soon be seen alongside Robert DeNiro and Claire Danes in the magical-realist fantasy Stardust. He was briefly considered as James Bond for Casino Royale but was finally considered to be too young and the role went to Daniel Craig.

He looks like a major star for the future - although this may be because for The Tudors they have cropped his hair and made him grow a beard.

... and finally, wouldn't you just love to be photographed in this style in full Tudor costume...?

Aussie footballers get dirty

A minor stir has been caused in Australia by the McGrath Foundation's Naked for a Cause Australian footballers' calendar.

Featuring 26 AFL and NRL players in varying states of undress, the 19-month calendar is 30 pages of mean-looking men in a variety of macho settings, including a factory, a men's shower block and a prison cell.

'The footballers are all tough and they were worried about looking like typical pretty-boy calendar guys,' a calendar spokesman said. 'The photographer took inspiration from Fight Club and 300 to create a strong, sexy, masculine look that was in keeping with their tough reputations.'

The only question is... where can I get a copy?

Rugby World Cup - Craig Smith

Scotland prop Craig Smith - a proper bear of a player.

Rugby World Cup - Daniel Carter

As the All Blacks struggle to come to terms with their shock early exit from the Rugby World Cup, the player I want to comfort most is Dan Carter - not only one of their most influential players but a model for Jockey underwear too.

Random factoid: Daniel Carter was the first person in the world to purchase a PC shipped with Windows Vista, buying a laptop which was auctioned off for charity.

Dieux du Stade 2008

It's that time of year again...

... although the early word is fewer photos than last year, fewer guest players in this Rugby World Cup year and less risque than last year's. And, as you can see, it's in colour.

Rugby World Cup - England

It can be hard to get good pictures of British sportsmen because they are much less likely than their French, Italian or Australian counterparts to get involved in any kind of modelling - with a few notable exceptions. But these three are worth keeping an eye out for.

Dan Hipkiss

George Chuter - now George is an interesting one as his sex appeal is almost entirely beard-dependent. Without beard, his nose is too big, his eyes are a little too close together, but with that splendid, almost Victorian beard which he is wearing longer at the moment - he looks magnificent.

Nick Easter

Not models, just big handsome rugby blokes.

And to the list you could well add Mark Cueto, Phil Vickery, Olly Barkley, Simon Shaw, Ben Kay, Mark Regan, Shaun Perry [top picture, red strip]...
