Bearflavoured

The book Bearflavoured brings together over 30 international designers and artists from different disciplines including illustration, photography, fashion and fine art.

The contributors come from a wide variety of geographical regions - places as diverse as Western Australia, Finland, Italy and Siberia.

Most of the book is a celebration of the hirsute, stocky male ideal, but some of the connections are less obvious and left for the viewer to discover. The work varies from the cute and cuddly to the thought provoking.

Bearflavoured is now finally available through amazon.co.uk

What could be more perfect for Christmas than arty shots of naked Aussie rugger boys?

You can now choose from a selection of 40 collectable, photographic prints which are only available from the Naked for a Cause online store. Well worth a look as these shots of Luke O'Donnell [top], John Williams [left] and William Zillman [right] demonstrate.

And just for fun, Adam Woolnough of Newcastle Knights and Heath L'Estrange from Sydney Roosters.

Ricky reveals crack in his armour

I couldn't resist these pictures of Latin pop sensation Ricky Martin going through security at LAX airport in Los Angeles at the weekend. See more at JustJared.com

Following the almost-scandal of his possible accidental outing, Ricky appears to be doing nothing appearance-wise to scotch those persistent gay rumours. Good for him.

Victoria bigs up David's manhood

Warning: this report may induce nausea and should be avoided by younger readers or those of a nervous disposition.

Victoria Beckham has claimed that her husband didn't have his manhood digitally enhanced for a recent underwear ad campaign.

The Spice Girl insists that the bulge in the Emporio Armani advert is genuine and that his equipment is similar to a "tractor exhaust pipe".

She is quoted as saying: "I'm proud I still have a really good sex life with David. He is very much in proportion.

"He does have a huge one, though. He does. You can see it in the advert. It is all his. It is like a tractor exhaust pipe!"

Classy, eh?

Jeff Bark

Jeff Bark's dark, moody, moonlit scenes are carefully constructed pictorial allegories in the old-school tradition. Not a single aspect of his 'outdoor' tableaux occurs naturally or by chance - the night-time setting is achieved by lighting and the set has been built in a Brooklyn warehouse, dressed with artfully-placed props and peopled with models. Bark likes to give every detail a meaning, and judging by the decaying landscape, urban debris and suggestions of sex, drugs and violence that surround these languishing, modern-day wood nymphs, it's the clandestine and corrupt behaviour of youth - his own included - that he seems to be getting at.

Bearforce1

In case you've managed to miss them they are the world's premier, first, only? bear boyband - they are Bearforce1.

They're Dutch (apart from the one from Belfast). They're bears. Their music is 'fun' (if you can stop yourself from forcing scissors in your ears and screaming 'No!' at the top of your voice) and quite dreadful - exactly the kind of lowest common denominator gay sh*t that makes you ashamed to like men at all and wonder how we have somehow managed to maintain a reputation for pioneering creativity.

Oh dear.

(And now they've gone and taken their tops off...)

Ryan Barry

Hot on the heels of the unveiling of David Beckham as the new 'face' of Armani underwear, the winner of a US nationwide contest to find a new model for Armani Exchange underwear was revealed this week at a dinner hosted by A|X and GQ.

And the winner is Ryan Barry - Adam Bouska model and post-Bass partner of personality/model/activist Reichen Lehmkuhl.

Naturally, he looks good in pants...

David Beckham

David Beckham is a fine-looking man with - in my opinion - a hairstyle-dependent sex appeal and an illusion of masculine mystique shattered virtually every time he opens his mouth to speak, thanks to his soft-spoken Essex accent, but the illusion is fully intact in this newly unveiled ad for Giorgio Armani underwear...

Henry Cavill talks about The Tudors

As the first series of The Tudors draws to a close on British TV screens, the big question is...

... how lovely is Henry Cavill.

Robbie Williams with beard (or two)

The years since his departure from Take That have shown the monumentally overrated Robbie Williams to be anything from a self-pitying egomaniac to a hateful tosser but even my lack of interest has been piqued by the recent candid snaps of him in Amsterdam, where he is recording his (heavens help us) eighth album, sporting a beard. On his face.

Does he dare challenge the almighty Babydaddy as pop's leading bear?

Bearlesque

Simon Casey of London-based bear burlesque cabaret troup Bearlesque was featured in the Are You Happy? feature of the Guardian on Saturday 17 November.
I'm not as energetic as Gene Kelly, but I do an act called Stripping In The Rain in a burlesque show - or, in our case, 'bearlesque'. There are five of us hairy, chubby guys. My act is done with an umbrella. At the end there's a lamp-post spouting real water.

Overall, yes, I'm happy. I've got a partner. It's incredibly cheesy, but seeing him smile makes me happy. Stripping is happiness for me. It's good fun, it's light-hearted. We're not out of the ordinary and we certainly don't go to the gym. The ideal male figure now is waxed. We're up there, hairy and unashamed. There has been some bare cheek on stage but normally it's just down to the underwear.

From a young age, I tended to find big, hairy men attractive. When the internet happened, that was the direction I headed in. I discovered the bear scene. It was accepting. I never felt embarrassed about how I looked. Around straight people, perhaps at a swimming pool, I'm more conscious of my body, I feel like I'm a bit tubby. That may be odd to hear in relation to stripping, but when I'm under the lights I know the audience is there. I'll keep doing it as long as there's an audience. I'll probably have to stop eating burgers at some point but I need to do that anyway.

The most active thing we do is the cancan. We really get those legs high, and that gets me happy. Seeing a bunch of hairy, overweight men joyously kicking the cancan - that's something unexpected.

Daniel Boys

Good to see that there is life - well, career - after BBC1's talent search Any Dream Will Do.

Daniel Boys made it as far the final six before being voted out - despite being one of my favourites. Since the show he has appeared in a couple of musicals and will shortly be seen in the smash-hit West End musical Avenue Q, which is soon to see its first cast changeover as the orginal London cast take a break.

Adam Bouska

Adam Bouska is an American fashion photographer working out of West Hollywood and he is a rising star, especially with his male photography. I theoretically prefer my men a little more on the beefy side - but Bouska certainly know how to take a beautiful photograph of a beautiful man.

Last picture: Ryan Barry, Bouska's new 'muse'; all other pictures Marco Dapper

Adam Bouska

Goal!

A Manchester City player - Stephen Ireland - has sparked some small controversy with his 'unconventional' goal celebration when he ended the deadlock with a second half strike against Sunderland on Monday - not sure what the fuss is all about exactly... football would certainly benefit from a much needed injection of sexiness - and cheekiness will have to do.

Justin Monroe is an up and coming fashion photographer from the US.

His work can be described as ultra realistic and highly provocative. Working with a group of known stylists and art directors, his images create a sense of heightened reality.

Justin Monroe's editorial work has appeared in Australia's DNA Magazine, the UK's Gay Times and many more. His work is edgy, glamorous and very sexy. There are many more examples of his work on his website.
