The power of the beard - David Denman

David Denman is an American actor.

His numerous TV appearances include Angel, The Office (US), Without a Trace, CSI: Miami, ER etc. He has appeared in supporting roles in several films, notably Big Fish and Smart People - which is where I noticed him.

Again, he exemplifies the power of the beard. Clean shaven he's OK - just another American actor guy with a big build - but with a beard (as he often seems to be) - his woofiness is off the scale!

Married, alas.

Diet on the Dancefloor - sexy fat lads

There is something so wrong about new Living show Diet on the Dancefloor - ten chubby lads and lasses dieting and learning to dance for our entertainment but...

Edward Collins - 15.5 stones

21 year old Edward is a wannabe boy band member from East London who dreams of one day having a successful music career.

But Edward feels his weight is holding him back. His main passion in life is singing and song-writing but feels his performance is hampered by his increasing weight gain since he gave up playing semi-professional rugby.

He detests the cheesy ‘Westlife’ style routines and would love to learn how to dance properly.

A real mummy’s boy, Eddie still lives at home with his mum who raised him single-handedly and sees the show as a means of securing a better life for the both of them.

[I'm guessing the mother's a feeder for her own reasons]

Jaiden Michael - 16 stones

Celebrity obsessed, 25 year old Jaiden is a cheeky Scouser with a big ego.

Confident and cheeky, Jaiden loves to mix with the Liverpool celebrity and fashionista set and aspires to be the new Perez Hilton due to his daily on-line celebrity gossip blog.

He loves fashion and works hard on perfecting his variety of ‘looks’, some of which don’t work because of his body shape and size.

Jaiden's dream is to lose the weight and bring out the person he is destined to be, a superstar!

[Cuter than he looks on this pic. Perez Hilton [!] is his role model? Stay fat then, love]

Have to say though that the top TV totty is still the Crank on Bingo Night Live - Tuesday to Saturday after midnight ITV1

Big Brother - Stuart Pilkington

I have managed to avoid getting sucked into watching Big Brother this year but do occasionally catch odds and ends. Oddly heterosexual this year too - since the vile Dennis was ejected.

I have to say that newest boy in Stuart Pilkington has an absurdly perfect body - well, apart from the lack of body hair of course - but there is something slightly strange about his undeniably handsome face that I can't quite put my finger on. Somehow he looks illustrated - cell-shaded - or as if he's always wearing stage make-up. Is he addicted to guyliner?

Anyway, loving the constant top off and underwear show.

One thing to look forward to in Beijing

Quite why they ever decided to hold the Olympics in a city that has air so polluted that it represents a danger to athletes, in an undemocratic country that has an appalling human rights record, invests heavily in Zimbabwe and blocks UN attempts to impose sanctions on the hateful Mugabe, and generally flouts its every international responsibility while unhelpfully distorting the global economy is beyond me.

But we don't care about that - we love the Olympics, the stadia look great and there are good things to look forward to - like French Canadian diver Alexandre Despatie, who gets sexier and sexier as he gets bulkier and hairier and older [and he's still only 23].

Naked Rugby

Members of the All Blacks, New Zealand's national team, took part in a nude rugby game at St Kilda Beach on 12 July 2008 in Dunedin, New Zealand.

Organised by Bottom Bus - it's not what you think - a tourism company in New Zealand, the game was meant as a prelude to a Tri-Nations test match against South Africa, their arch-rivals.

The match was briefly interrupted by a fully-clothed 'streaker'.

Somehow the pictures fail to quite live up to the fantasy...

Gay Abandon

Unconvinced by the notion that a photograph equals truth and reality, Anthony Gayton has instead embraced what he calls the 'Victorian fantasist' approach. His images take us to a romantic, mythologised world, populated by angels, mermen and centaurs.

His series 'The Angelus' illustrates his own gothic fantasy tale of the same name, about a girl called Lillian who decides to create the perfect man. Needless to say it doesn't go according to plan. But it does provide an ideal platform for another of Gayton's principle concerns - the faintly idolatrous and conspicuously homoerotic adoration of the beautiful, Adonis-like male.

He also takes a lot of pictures of young men lounging around in their underwear.

A book Sinners and Saints is available.

Bear Saves Bear

Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission biologist Adam Warwick saves a 375-pound male black bear from drowning near Alligator Point, Florida.

The bear had been wandering around a residential neighbourhood when it was hit with a tranquilliser dart. The bear then bolted into the water before the drugs took effect. Warwick jumped in to keep the bear from drowning and dragged him to shore.

Beach Fountain

Hollyoaks hunk and Dancing on Ice star Chris Fountain er, 'frolics' on the beach during the Hollyoaks boys 2009 calendar shoot in Mallorca.

Much as I was impressed with his stylish and athletic skating moves on DOI and much as I love his lovely bruised angel face the Fountain is looking a bit white and pasty... still, he is still only twenty

Backstage Pass for Broadway Bares

This is probably very much a New York event but Tony-winning choreographer Jerry Mitchell created Broadway Bares — an annual fleshfest benefit on behalf of Broadway Cares/Equity Fights AIDS — in 1992 after losing several friends to the disease.

Having choreographed The Full Monty, Mitchell provides somewhat less than that with these risqué revues, which consist of hundreds of the Great White Way's greatest performers shaking what will hopefully be their money-makers through a series of naughty sketches and elaborate dance routines set to familiar and sometimes original songs.

Counting this year's $875,000+ haul, Mitchell’s creation has brought in nearly $6 million dollars for AIDS over the past 16 years from a show that's traditionally only performed twice a night, once a year.

The show has such beautiful advertising, production values, participants and intentions, it was only a matter of time before a coffee-table book was born—the red-hot Backstage Pass: Broadway Bares offers 160 pages of promotional images, behind-the-scenes peeks and live moments that are not to be missed.
