Choosing to grow a beard?

What’s your top tip for growing facial hair?
Let it grow and see what happens. It always struck me as strange that in the animal kingdom all the best plumage goes to the male of the species and the females tend to look quite dull. Look at peacocks. Yet we seem to have done the opposite: men shave and women apply make-up. I don’t understand why people think you choose to grow a beard, in reality it’s those without facial hair who choose to shave.
