Karl Urban is a New Zealand actor best known for playing Éomer in the second and third films of Peter Jackson's The Lord of the Rings trilogy.Early in his career he played a gay paramedic in the New Zealand TV soap Shortland Street. He also appeared in Xena: Warrior Princess and Hercules: The Legendary Journeys for several years, which were filmed in New Zealand.
Hollywood success came with appearances in Ghost Ship, The Lord of the Rings trilogy, a leading role in The Chonicles of Riddick and, most recently, one of the lead characters in Doom.
